I unfortunately receive more emails regarding admission and research opportunities than I have time to respond to. If you are interested in working with me, please find the section that applies to you and follow the instructions. This page does not apply to questions regarding Georgia Tech courses that I teach.
I don't receive many emails from current (or post) PhD student at Georgia Tech or elsewhere, so please feel to send me an email with your background and request.
If you are a current non-PhD on-campus (e.g., BS or MS) student at Georgia Tech, I recruit student researchers every semester from a few weeks before the first day of classes to the end of the first week of classes. For Fall 2025, this period is July 28 through August 22.
To apply, please first complete the semester's mini-project (Fall 2025 mini-project coming soon). Once complete, send me an email with three attachments: (1) your mini-project report, (2) your up-to-date resume, and (3) your up-to-date (unofficial) transcript. In the body of the email include the following two paragraphs: (1) how research would contribute to your goals, and (2) your research interests, both in terms of topics and methodology (e.g. experimental, theoretical). If your mini-project report is high-quality and you have some ML experience (e.g., one or two past ML project and a couple ML-related courses), you can expect an email from me either discussing your background/interests or inviting you to an interview.
All other emails (e.g., outside the recruitment period or not containing the required materials) may be ignored.
If you are a current non-PhD online (OMSCS) student at Georgia Tech, please apply for a project related to my interests with HAAG, which I collaborate closely with. I unfortunately won't be able to respond directly to your requests.
If you are neither a current PhD student nor at Georgia Tech, please consider applying to be a student at Georgia Tech. I unfortunately won't be able to respond directly to your requests. I have no role in BS or MS admissions. For PhD admissions, I am planning to take 0-1 students during the December 2025 application cycle.
